Welded pipe is the abbreviation of welded steel pipe, refers to the steel plate crimped into a round pipe or square pipe, after welding formed steel pipe. Widely used in water conservancy projects, municipal drainage, tap water transportation and so on.
In practical production and application, welded pipe is usually divided into two kinds according to welding mode: straight seam welded pipe and spiral welded pipe.
Straight welded pipe: usually for the nominal diameter of DN15 (4 branch) -DN150 (6 inch pipe) small and medium caliber specifications of welded pipe. The straight seam welding process is simpler than the spiral welding process, with low welding cost and high efficiency. The disadvantage is that the weld is in the same straight line and the compressive strength is low. Therefore, the straight seam welding is only suitable for the production of small and medium caliber welded pipes.
Spiral welded pipe: usually for the nominal diameter of DN200 (8 inch pipe) -DN600 (24 inch pipe) of large diameter specifications of welded pipe. Spiral welding process can use the same width of steel plate in the production of different diameter welded pipe, the disadvantage is that technology is complex, of the same length than straight seam welded pipe spiral weld much longer, causing the production cost is high, the production efficiency is low, so the spiral welding used in the production of large diameter welded pipe, spiral weld has higher compressive strength at the same time, ensure the compressive capacity of large diameter welded pipe.
The measurement method of welded pipe is generally weighing and counting two kinds, weighing is actually weighed by the scale, counting is in accordance with the theoretical formula to calculate the weight, the formula is: "meter weight (kg) = (outer diameter mm- wall thickness mm) * wall thickness mm*0.02466".
