Channel steel is a long strip of steel with a groove section. Channel steel belongs to carbon structural steel for construction and machinery, is a complex section steel steel, its section shape is trough. Channel steel is mainly used in building structure, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment and vehicle manufacturing. In use, it is required to have good welding, riveting and comprehensive mechanical properties. The raw material billet for channel steel production is carbon bonded steel or low alloy steel billet with carbon content not more than 0.25%. Finished channel steel is delivered by hot working, normalizing or hot rolling. Its specifications to waist height (h)* leg width (b)* waist thickness (D) mm number, such as 100*48*5.3, that waist height is 100 mm, leg width is 48 mm, waist thickness is 5.3 mm channel steel, or called 10# channel steel. For channel steel with the same waist height, if there are several different leg width and waist thickness, ABC should also be added to the right of the model to be distinguished, such as 25# A25 # B25 # C, etc.
The allowable deviation of channel steel surface quality and geometric shape is specified in the standard. It is generally required that the surface shall not have harmful defects and significant torsion, and the allowable value of channel steel wave bend (sickle bend) and the value and allowable value of relevant parameters (H, B, D, T, etc.) of channel steel surface shape in various specifications. The length selection range of domestic channel steel is divided into 5 -- 12m, 5 -- 19m and 6 -- 19m according to different specifications. The length of the inlet channel steel selection range is generally 6-15m.
